Amazing!

Finally an action research book for preservice teachers! Becoming a Teacher Through Action Research is the most comprehensive action research text I have read. Both the text and the CD-ROM allows the reader to interact with the three strands: process of action research, action research in cultural context, and self-study in a fluid manner that facilitates critical thinking. What is incredible about the CD-ROM is that it provides the reader an opportunity to participate with a variety of interactive activities as well as it offers easy to access, printable data collection sample tools, four action research design templates, sample data sets, and seven action research papers.

Not a mere methods handbook, this volume is intended to transform the reader's professional identity. The authors share their experience in teacher preparation so that any instructor teaching action research as a new assignment would be delighted to discover this title. The action research process is described thoroughly, from formulation of questions to reporting results. The book is packed with questions and commentaries in the form of charts, diagrams, side bars, activities, instructions, quizzes, tables, questions, examples, a CD, and a companion website.
