About the Author
Barry Cullingworth was Emiritus Professor of Urban Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Delaware, and has held posts at the Universities of Manchester, Durham, Glasgow, Birmingham, Toronto and Cambridge. Barry Cullingworth of Planning in the USA, 2nd ed. (Routledge, 2003). His most current work was serving as editor of the Encyclopedia of the City (Routledge 2005).
Roger W. Caves is a Professor of City Planning and Director of the Graduate City Planning Program at San Diego State University (SDSU). He is the author of Land Use Planning: The Ballot Box Revolution (Sage Publications, 1992); editor of Exploring Urban America: An Introductory Reader (Sage Publications, 1995); and co-author with

Great Intro Book

This book is perfect for those who would like to begin a career in planning, or those who would just like to learn more about the topic. This book was a required reading for a Comprehensive Planning course that I took.

Bought this book for a course in Land Use and Public Policy... at first I was not excited but the book is really great at throwing in lots of history, current issues, etc. It became more and more enjoyable and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about how our American cities were shaped and possible issues in the future.

Too many typos in the Kindle edition!

Content wise, this is a good basic introduction read on planning and zoning. I'm not sure about the hard or paperback editions but there there is no excuse for an electronic Kindle edition to have as many typos as it does - run spell check for God's sake! I notice a typo or a missing word about every 5 pages.
