co-display spatial and social data

Here is a somewhat eclectic arrangement of essays about the aspects of space and place in human affairs. Think of this perhaps as geography but far removed from the traditional view of dusty maps of the world. Indeed much of the text can be read in terms of sociology.
One chapter looks at different and innovative ways to depict social groups or organisations. These aspire to display the interconnections between members and subgroups in manners that are meaningful and that yield insight into the group's dynamics. This so-called movement mapping is a far cry to traditional geographer's maps. Now there is a push to combine both literal spatial data and social networking data.
Of all the chapters in the book, this seems the most intriguing. It studies the depictions of social networks. And it is here where the intersection with computer science might prove quite fruitful.

why so expensive??

I am lucky to have electronic access to this book through my university. Why is this book so over-priced? How do the publishers and authors expect to get more use out of this book if it stays in this price range? I gave it a low rating because of its inaccessibility to a larger audience.
